Margin Notes 7 : Release Day and Pre-Production

2025 is already one twelfth of the way done, it already feels like it’s flying by. In this Margin Notes post we’ll celebrate the launch of The Way To Life going live today, January 31st, on Steam as well as talk about the pre-production that’s being worked on for ASSIAH. Let’s get into it!
~ THE WAY TO LIFE | OFFICIAL LAUNCH ~
The Way To Life is officially out and available for purchase on Steam. You can follow the link below to get to the store page.
All purchases of The Way To Life help with funding ASSIAH. Getting this game out proved to be very challenging despite its scope being very contained and not at all bloated. The numerous challenges provided much in the way of headaches, but because of that they were all the more satisfying to solve and overcome.

I just want to say thank you once more for your patience in letting us get The Way To Life pushed to release despite its multiple delays and backend hurdles. This project was a massive learning process and proved to provide mountains of invaluable experience and knowledge in getting a game from concept to release stage. Book 27 Games is eager to take that knowledge forward and apply it to the next project while improving on everything that we’ve done thus far.
~ ASSIAH | PRE-PRODUCTION ~
Since January 1st we’ve been working on ASSIAH, and in that time much progress has been made on pre-production items. We went over many of those in the previous Margin Notes, since then we’ve been hard at work hammering out the concept art for ASSIAH defining the visual styles and languages of the different groups you’ll encounter in the game world as well as defining the visual language of each biome you get to fight through. While I would love to do an art dump of all the various concept pieces we’ve put together I can only show a few items here. So, here’s a taste of what we’ve been working on.
DAGGER DROPSHIP

The Dagger dropship is the United Earth Colonial Military’s fast flying power house. Designed for troop transport from orbit to the surface as well as ordinance delivery the Dagger is a mainstay in the UECM fleet.

In very early prototyping levels we placed a placeholder Dagger dropship in our Unreal engine test environment to see what the scale would feel like when boarding on and off this massive vehicle.

There’s also just the average clutter you see scattered around the environment. Each faction will have their own kit set using distinct shape language and color to separate them from one another. Needless to say, you won’t mistake a human military outpost for an alien one anytime soon.

We also are working on fleshing out our infantry units to show differences in personality as well as role for the marines. While this is mostly aesthetic at this point it adds depth to the marines you’ll be fighting along side on the alien world of ASSIAH.
~ ASSIAH: KNIGHT ~

In addition to working on the game and getting the concepting work done on ASSIAH, the prologue comic is also coming along with multiple pages being fully sketched out and inked as well. ASSIAH: Knight tells the story of SOLDR and how he came to possess the suit of blue battle armor he wears in the game.
